A New Perspective: Lacheln

The music is blaring in our home! Ben was just playing his new electric guitar, Uli is playing drums, the Booth Brothers are singing "The Stuff of Life" in our DVD player, and I love this atmosphere! Just yesterday (Ben's birthday), it seemed like we were constantly making music and now it has spilled into today as well. As I have said, there isn't a day that goes by without music in our home!

Well, I have been questioning everything in my life this month. When I say everything, I mean everything! Christianity, family, marriage, life, purpose, goals, etc. I have been realizing there are things in my life that need to be resolved, confessed, changed, strengthed...you name it! Thankfully, I believe I have confirmed that I will continue in the way of Christ, according to His Word, after a [continuing] struggle. It will be quite a journey, and I know this won't be the only time in my life that I will examine my beliefs.

I really do want to be godly young woman. A true beautiful woman (yes, I meant to say true beautiful). I want to be an example to those around me and to shine the beauty of really knowing my Lord Jesus Christ. I want to have deeper, closer relationship with my Prince.

As a result of this time in my life, I have made some resolutions I would like to share with you. This is just one series of four that I wrote.

BECOMING A TRUE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN
I resolve to cultivate the qualities of a truly beautiful woman in my life and to be a witness of graceful, godly girlhood.

THIS INCLUDES:
-True love and desire for the Lord and His ways
-Passion for reading God’s Word, His message to me
-A consistent and fervent prayer life
-Sisterly love and respect for all people
-Honor, love, and submission towards my parents
-Gentleness, love, and respect toward my siblings
-A bright smile and cheerful heart
-Refined speech and a conversational attitude
-Purity towards my fellow brothers in the Lord
-Humility and a servant, selfless heart
-Integrity and reliability in each task I undertake
-Truthfulness and uprightness in my life
-Generosity and hospitality to those in need
-Forgiveness and peace to those who have offended me
-A clear conscience and honesty
-Sympathy to those who need encouragement

In closing I want to share with you some words my pastor sent to me after I shared my struggles with him. May it encourage you in whatever trial you are going through in this journey of life.

"Psalm 91:1-2 says: 'He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my god, in whom I trust.'

...Life is tough, there is no doubt about it. And yet, every day continues to be another glorious blessing from God...Life is what you make it, and God created a beautiful world for you to celebrate that in. Live each day in His shelter and trust and comfort and rest. When you lay your head down on the pillow each night, have no regrets about how your day was spent and be excited about what a new day will bring because of the God-newness of each day. Smile...Life is worth it. You're worth it. You mean so much to God that Jesus died for you. How cool is that?"

So, lacheln. We "rest in the shelter of the Almighty." Though we deal with sin and its effects every day, I know someday we (Christians) all will be free from this life! Praise God, He is coming for me!

Lacheln!
Taylor
P.S. Lacheln is "smile" in German. Combining my heritage and one of my favorite words, this has become the perfect closing for me.

Take heart, dear one! Right now it is just a season of testing the heart. As stated in 1 Peter 1:6-7, “In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ."

My encouragement in these two verses is that you can smile and rejoice through the struggles of life knowing that your relationship with Christ, through prayer and reading the Word, will be strengthened.

May your life continue to reflect Him and further His kingdom!
